Kick and step drill
OBJECTIVE:
To improve basic kicking skills.
EQUIPMENT:
Balls
GROUP SIZE:
In pairs.
AREA:
Depends on team size.
DRILL SET-UP:
Pair up with a ball and stand 2-3m apart.
DRILL EXPLANATION:
- Player kicks ball to partner.
- If caught, both players take a step back.
- If dropped, both players go back to starting position.
- Keep going until there is a winner – pair furthest apart.
Key Coaching Points
- Control the ball onto the foot.
- Accuracy.
- Extend leg.
VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:
- Use grubber kick.
