OBJECTIVE:
To improve players' ability to kick accurately and put pressure on the defender.
EQUIPMENT:
Four cones, one ball.
GROUP SIZE:
Three players per group.
AREA:
Half field.
DRILL EXPLANATION:
- No 9 passes to No 10 and follows up pass to place pressure on No 10.
- No 10 kicks to the defender (No 11) in appropriate box area. No 10 follows up kick to put pressure on No 11.
- Players rotate.
COACHING POINTS:
• Turn side on
• Take one step away
• Turn the back
• High follow-through
VARIATIONS / PROGRESSION:
- Add loose forwards to follow up No 10s kick once onside.
- Used as a fitness drill.
- Include more defenders who have to retire to support the ball receiver.
